However, blue uniforms were only used until 1898 and then they switched to khaki. They didn’t start using camo netting until during World War II.

Setting Up Camo Netting For Different Environments

It doesn’t matter if you are using the woodland camouflage netting for military use, hunting use, or even playing air soft paintball, you should know how to set it up for the different environments you may use it for.

First of all, your netting should be made of high quality materials and be dyed a dark color. If you are located near the coast, it is easy to find a net for your ghillie suit. However, if you are not living in this area, you can still buy what you need to make one at any craft store. These types of stores already have decorative fishing net that are big enough for your ghillie suits. But, if you know how to weave a net, you can do so on your own.

You will need to cut the strips once you have your fishing net for your ghillie suit. You need a burlap sack that is either dyed dark brown or you can choose one that looks the same as the environment you are using it in. In order for you to have the best camouflage, you need to choose the exact colors, patterns, and textures to perfectly match the environment you are hunting in to conceal you 100 %. You need to shred the burlap sack to get the best effect you are going for. For example, say you are going to use the netting in the snow. You will need a dirty white fabric and some white tee-shirts. You will then cut this fabric,or the burlap into strips that are one foot long and three inches wide.

Your next step in setting up your woodland camouflage netting is to tie the strips you cut to the fishing net. The top knot you tie will be used to attach each strip to your ghillie suit or net. To make the camo netting even fuzzier looking, you can pick apart the burlap strips and then shred them. If you choose to add leaves to your handmade netting, you will need to use a darker colored thread. You only need to attach your materials onto one side of your netting since the other side will be hidden.

It is very important when making your own camo netting, is to use all natural materials to be able to adapt to the different environments and to hide you well enough. The best types of tree bark to use, since they are all natural, include poplar, cedar, and paw paw tree bark.
